Intruder Alarms, or burglar alarm systems as they are often known, make intruders think twice. They not only act as a deterrent, but will provide a warning that an intrusion is taking place either to staff, a remote monitoring centre or local passers by.
Intruder alarms detect attempted intrusion or unauthorised entry into a building, room, site or secure installation and trigger a response. Well-fitted and maintained intruder alarms can make organisations and individuals less likely to become victims of burglary, vandalism and other forms of attack. The police recommend home owners “install a visual burglar alarm” with a box on the outside of the house. But the police say it must be as part of a suite of prevention measures because “a burglar alarm on its own will not prevent entry to your home”.
There are all sorts of options available to you when it comes to protecting your business. And although you may have already decided that you need an intruder alarm for your home or business, there are still some important questions to ask: for example, what security system do i need?.
Audible alarms are rarely suitable for commercial premises and will not provide an automatic police response; the police will only act if an unlawful entry has been witnessed and reported by a 999 call. Selecting the type of alarm for your business is one thing. If you want it to be effective and meet the requirements set out by the police and your insurer, it’s important to have it installed and maintained in accordance with the required standards by a professional company.
